October 5 2012 saw the release of Ida Jenshus’ third album. “Someone to Love” has had some fantastic reviews, not least 6/6 from Aftenposten (Norway’s biggest broadhseet) and 5/6 from the rest of the major papers.
This is a career defining record. Initially hailed as a “country queen” early on in her career, she can now safely claim the title of rock’s first lady, with an album that has really taken her music a step further. The record is produced by Kaare Christoffer Vestrheim and features extensive use of guitars and keys, wide open soundscapes whilst lyrically it is more mature and reflective. The title track has been A-listed on P1 for several months.
25 year old Ida Jenshus, from Steinkjer has already picked up two Spellemann awards, one for each of her previous albums, both have which have gone gold. Last year she was awarded the prestigious Bendiksenprisen which is awarded to her by her peers.
