Karin Park is electro-goth royalty who’s career took off in 2004 in Norway, originally as a pop artist. Her debut album and single “Superworldunknown” was a huge success and won a Norwegian Grammy for “Best Newcomer” and was also nominated “Best Norwegian song of all time” by national radio channel P3 and the magazine Spririt.
After the release of “Superworldunknown” and her second album “Change Your Mind” in 2006 Karin decided to explore all her musical possibilities and her music developed from light pop to deep alternative/electro/pop with darker lyrics. This was shown on her third album “Ashes To Gold” (2009).
Now Karin Park performs live together with her brother David Park who plays drums, bass and effects at the same time! Karin and David recently supported Azari & III and SBTRKT on their European tour dates.
In 2011 Karin released her 4th album “Highwire Poetry” produced by Christoffer Berg (Fever Ray and The Knife) and Barry Barnett. The album and singles have gotten amazing reviews from the likes of The Sun [UK], The Sunday Times [UK], Bergen Avisen [NO] and the Guardian [UK], and have also been getting regular radio support from BBC Radios Nick Grimshaw, Annie Mac, Jo Whiley, Jen Long and Chris Hawkins.
Quotes:
“This fabulous slice of sepulchral electro-pop from the Swede is a must for fans of Robyn and the Knife.”
- Sunday Times Culture
“Those moments of stunning, dark pop like Restless make this album special”
- The Sun
“Moody electronica from the Swedish electo-goth”
- Sunday Times Style
“Karin Park turns her unique outlook on life into big throbbing electronica as shown by Restless’”
- Guardian
“The Swedish artist Karin Park is reminiscent of Robyn in her flair for the catchy melodies, or The Knife and Björk in more demanding electronic tunes. But the universe is her own, “Highwire Poetry” is Dangerously good! with fascinating images of passion and danger in a dark world.” - Bergen Avisen – Album Review 5/6
Karin is also big within the fashion scene and recently did a fashion shoot for Swarovski Crystallized 2012 look book with jewellery created by some of fashion’s biggest designer names, and was also featured by the world’s number one Luxury designer site Net A Porter earlier this year with over 3.5 million subscribers.
