Speaker: Moderator: Steve Mayall, Music Ally
With Apple poised to announce a new radio service, and with Pandora hitting a market bigger than EMI, turning a profit and worrying the incumbent radio giants in the US, should we be looking at radio as the real mass market digital model of 2013?
It’s all about discovery and curation, as well as cheaper licences for tech companies. Personalised radio ticks those boxes, works well in the home, on mobile devices and in the car (the next battleground for digital music), and is already known and understood by the mass market who may feel intimidated by complex streaming subscription models.
The panel will look at evolving radio models and examine how they will affect music marketing, payments, income, and opportunities for labels, artists, managers and other industry stakeholders.
Panel:
Jonathan Dworkin – Global Head of Business Affairs & Strategy, Nokia
Fred McIntyre – Advisor at SoundHound, Tout, Univision & Fanzy; previously SVP – Product & Strategic Development – CBS Interactive Music Group and Last.fm
James Simcock – Executive Producer, Mobile, BBC Audio and Music
Paul Bennun – Chief Creative Officer, Somethin’ Else
