This is the age of the archive. Musicians, record labels, artists, academics and authors increasingly plunder historical resources for inspiration and commerce. New and forgotten archives are being unearthed all the time, and subjects once considered not culturally valuable, such as rock journalism, now have their own libraries and online resources.
This panel, attended by representatives from the British Library, rocksbackpages.com, the Henie Onstad Centre in Oslo and more, will explore the archivist’s state of mind, and how archives may be accessed by artists, entrepreneurs and the public. What is worth preserving, how do we make collections future-proof, and how do you prepare the stuff that will be history for future generations?
