Hvitmalt Gjerde are four boys from Bergen who play surf rock inspired by 60s pop, psych and garage rock who sing in their native Bergen dialect.
The band have already earned themselves quite a considerable fanbase with love from industry and the general public in equal measure with shows up and down the country and are a breath of fresh air for the Bergen music scene.
“Forget The Beach Boys, search for these on Soundcloud and hear how “Bergensk” is the perfect partner for angular surf-rock." – VG
Hvitmalt Gjerde are a band from the planet Mercury, brimming with confidence and self belief. The band began life in earnest in a left in suburban Bergen and are comprised of Johannes, Sturla, Jakob and Ørjan and are now looking outwards to the rest of Norway. They’ve already taken nascent steps beginning with shows at Hulen in Bergen, Trashpop in Kristiansand and Musikkfest in Oslo as well as festival appearances at Perifierifestivalen, Telle’s Sommerfest, Phonofestivalen and Ekstremsport Week in Voss. This is a band that is going to tour the world, but for the moment that most likely means we’ll hear and see quite a bit of them in Norway.
“I have a new favourite band… They can do no wrong right now.” – BT (major regional daily)
