During the past couple of years the now Copenhagen based Dane Rangleklods has created a following in the underground milieus of Berlin and Denmark through original and ambitious tracks paired with intense and ever-changing live performances. Rangleklods’ music captures its audience by seeing past conventions regarding genre and what’s considered good and bad taste, simply giving in to the subconscious will of creative impulses while playfully utilizing the computer as a musical instrument without limitation. The physically encouraging compositions unite a great sense of melody with sound experimentation brought together by a charismatically deep but encompassing voice, thereby creating an absorbing universe that dares to speak directly to the emotions of the listener.
Rangleklods’ sound consists of recorded instruments and analogue gear alongside purely digital and intensely programmed patterns intertwining into audioscapes ranging from minimal techno to 60’s style “Wall of Sound”. Both in that regard and composition-wise Rangleklods points just as much backwards towards David Bowie and The Doors as it does forwards, to a world inhabited by artists such as James Holden and The Field.
Rangleklods released his debut EP “Home” in October 2011, which was followed up five months later with the album ‘Beekeeper’. The title of the album is very much a metaphor for how Rangleklods creates and considers his music: the interconnection of order and chaos. What may strike its audience as chaos at first listen later reveals itself as carefully ordered elements while unheard layers of sound and nuance continually reveal themselves. Everything has a place, a meaning and a goal – just like the bees in a hive. Following these critically acclaimed releases Rangleklods has been picked to play SPOT Festival, The Great Escape, Roskilde Festival, Iceland Airwaves and Dockville to name but a few.
